Chargeback in a Cloud/Non-Cloud Environment

In July, Founder Eistein Fosli led a cloud chargeback seminar at the 24th Financial World of Information Technology conference in San Antonio, TX.

The Director of ITFMA, Terry Quinlan, noted the program has maintained its popularity over the years, while attendance at other conferences has gone down considerably, and that there were many more new attendees this year.

In his seminar, Mr. Fosli recommended the following when using chargeback for cloud resources: to integrate it with the enterprise’s chargeback model, and to treat it as just another cost (like any “on-premise” cost). He also advised making sure the chargeback system can read the cloud invoice (using all the details as input to your enterprise chargeback). The advantage of doing chargeback in this way is being able to set your own policies for cloud usage, and enforce behaviors that benefit the entire enterprise.

At the end of the session Mr. Fosli encouraged attendees to try testing their chargeback model with last year’s cloud data. He pointed out the importance of having enough flexibility in the test run model to be able to make adjustments along the way. Start including cloud services in your enterprise chargeback model, and schedule a live demo to see how.
